Wynwood was formerly an industrial district of Miami, but is now a real art and entertainment mecca. Wynwood is made up of two neighborhoods: the Wynwood Art District in the North, and the Wynwood Fashion District. Called ‘Little San Juan’ in the past, this area still bears evidence of Puerto Rican immigration waves. The streets of Wynwood are lined with Puerto Rican-owned restaurants, markets, shops, and other small businesses.
The neighborhood is an ideal place to explore without a car. Residents and visitors enjoy taking slow strolls along the street-art-painted walls of Wynwood. Another unique feature of this place is its location within a short driving distance from Miami Beach and its bustling nightlife, the offices of Downtown Miami, and a variety of sparkling white beaches and luxurious marinas of the surrounding barrier islands in the Atlantic Ocean.
