Being only the seventh largest county in Florida, Broward County is relatively small. It is neatly tucked in between the world-famous Everglades National Park and the sparkling aquamarine waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Compared to its larger neighbor, Miami-Dade County, Broward is less flashy and has a charm of its own. With historic Fort Lauderdale being its cultural and artistic center together with Las Olas, one of the quintessential representations of Florida’s unique lifestyle, Broward County offers more serene resort-like real estate options with nature at your doorstep and the Atlantic Ocean in your backyard.

Type 1: Hobby-oriented neighborhoods

A rich history of gambling business in Florida dates a while back, and it is still one of the few states where gambling is legal. One of the key destinations is Hallandale Beach that not only boats an oceanfront location and a wide spectrum of real estate to choose from, but also an array of casinos, horse and dog racing tracks. This community is also known for its lavish golf courses and a number of entertainment centers.

Type 2: Business and startups

Sunrise provides a mixture of opportunities for a career – the city houses regional headquarters of several large local and international companies, for entertainment – Sunrise has been home to various festivals and sporting events, combined with sports clubs, golf courses, and a big tennis center. The fourth largest mall in the United States – The Sawgrass Mills Mall is also located here.

Type 3: Artistic neighborhoods

Las Olas is a true Broward County gem that lives up to its name the Venice of America to the fullest extent. Cozy riverfront restaurants and cafes provide an excellent vantage point for beautiful yachts and water taxis that fly by towards the ocean. The busy waterway lined with luxurious marinas and fashionable condo complexes, creates a unique atmosphere, while creative event spaces, modern art galleries, designer boutiques, and historic museum create this area’s special appeal for a wide variety of prospective residents and guests.

Type 4: Entertainment-centered neighborhoods

Fort Lauderdale provides unique water navigation opportunities due to the waterway separating the city into two and alleviating the traffic issues. Dotted with museums, art centers, and limitless shopping and dining opportunities, Fort Lauderdale is a perfect choice for everyone looking to live the South Florida lifestyle to the fullest, which means boating, golf, fine dining, and year-round entertainment.

Type 5: Beach and waterfront neighborhoods

Hollywood Beach is a magnificent thin strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean in the West and the Intracoastal Waterway in the East is a perfect choice for a family or someone looking for a serene oceanfront property. Known for its beach town vibe, Hollywood Beach is filled with entertainment venues and lavish high-rises facing miles of pristine white sandy beaches.

Type 6: Privacy and security

Bay Harbor Islands is another great community for families who value privacy and safety. The neighborhood is set on two islands: the West Island and the East Island. Even though it is a relatively small community, it manages to accommodate a variety of real estate options, including not only condos, but single-family homes, together with schools and entertainment. Bay Harbor Islands’ location is also enviable because it is connected to the mainland by a causeway that helps keep unwanted guests away, while allowing the residents enjoy easy access to both North Miami in the West and the beautiful beach town of Surfside in the East.

Type 7: Family-friendly communities

Weston is a place for those who would like to combine a serene family-friendly environment with close proximity to unparalleled South Florida nature and stunning views. Lined with hiking and biking trails, Weston never ceases to impress its residents with a myriad of outdoor activity facilities in its numerous scenic parks.

Type 8: Shopping

Bal Harbor is famous for Bal Harbor Shops, one of South Florida’s shopping and entertainment meccas, located in one of the wealthiest and safest suburbs of Fort Lauderdale. This is an exclusive area filled with luxurious real estate and an impressive list of former residents that includes former United States presidents, world-class celebrities, and entertainers.
